Rice and millet are the main food staples. Mango trees and papaya are abundant in most areas. In the dry season garden vegetables are grown such as tomatoes, eggplant and okra. Usually leftovers are eaten as a small snack in the morning. A light meal is eaten at lunch and the main meal is eaten in the evening. Men eat from a common bowl. Women and children eat separately. When a boy gains good manners he may eat with the men. Eating is done with the right hand. Each ethnic group has it own dishes.
