Flag History | The larger star stands for Niue, the smaller ones symbolize links with New Zealand. The Union flag recalls the protectorate Great Britain established in 1899 follwing a request made by the kings and chiefs of Niue. The golden yello stands for “the bright sunshine of Niue and the warm feeling of the Niuean people toward New Zealand and her people”. |
