Diet
Rice is the main food. Spicy food is preferred. Food is often marinated in shu'ra (chopped onions and spices marinated in cooking oil). Aside from carrots and cucumbers, all vegetables are fried. Masoor Daal is one of the most commonly consumed dishes in Bangladesh. Rasguallas is a favorite dessert eaten on special holidays.
Mealtime
Food is eaten with the right hand, which is washed after each meal. Food is not passed around the table; rather, plates are taken to a main dish for serving. Bangladeshis usually do not use knives or forks while eating at home. Spoons are used to eat dessert which is not commonly served at mealtime.
