This Communist nation adopted a new anthem upon its creation at the start of the cold war in 1947, simply titled "Patriotic Song".The words are by Pak Se Yong
It has been in use since 1947
The music is by Kim Won Gyun

three horizontal bands of blue (top), red (triple width), and blue; the red band is edged in white; on the hoist side of the red band is a white disk with a red five-pointed star the red symbolizes revolutionary patriotism and the fighting spirit. The star symbolizes the reolutionary traditions established by President Kim Il Sung. The white stands for the Korean nation and its culture. The blue stripes symbolize “the aspiration of the Korean people to unite with the revolutionary people of the whole world and fight for the victory of the idea of independence, friendship and peace”. |
