The most popular food is falafel or deep fried balls of ground chickenpeas. Eggplant is another popular food. Israelis eat a large breakfast and may continue to eat small meals throughout the day.
Due to kosher restrictions Jewish Israelis tend to eat a main meat meal at midday and a lighter dairy meal at evening time since meat and dairy can not be eaten at the same time or with the same utensils. Camels, pigs and rabbits are forbidden by the Jewish diet. Only fish with both fins and scales are permitted to be eaten.
