December 25 Christmas in Argentina

Home decoration consists of presebres (Nativity scenes), and red and white garlands with Father Christmas’s boots placed at the door.  Although Santa Clause and Christmas trees are becoming increasingly popular it is still customary for families to visit the presebres of friends and relatives as well as the presebres in the local cathedral. Traditionally the manger remains empty until midnight on Christmas Eve when a family member at home or church leader at the cathedral adds the Christ child signifying the Christ child is born.

Many Children are starting to receive gifts on Christmas eve as well as on Epiphany when they place their shoes on a window sill and the Three Kings fill them with treats by morning.

The Christmas season includes The Feast of the Immaculate Conception held on December 8th, Midnight Mass held on Christmas Eve, Holy Innocents Day -- December 28th, New Years Day --January 1st
